Inspired by a deep respect for the unique and irreplaceable Adirondack environment, Maintain the Chain (MTC) launched as a grassroots organization in 2020. MTC seeks to preserve the watershed and lakes of the Fulton Chain by educating community members about the importance of this ecosystem, and encouraging active stewardship through self-guided clean-up and improvement projects. In 2023, Maintain the Chain activities will take place August 5-13, aligning with the 4th annual Adirondack Water Week.

The EcoArts Festival, at View Arts Center on Saturday August 5, 10-2, will incorporate Activity Stations featuring hands-on art-making and science for all ages; information tables and MTC project ideas to explore; Wetland Walkway guided observations and scavenger hunt; and access to View’s Galleries for visitors to explore Wool & Water; The Elusive Wild: Sculpture and Painted Illustrations by PJ LaBarge; and the Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors (ANEAW).

View is pleased to partner with MTC and several other collaborating organizations to develop and host the inaugural EcoArts Festival to launch MTC 2023. This one-day event will be a unique and accessible intersection of participatory art and science activities, learning opportunities, and community building that will raise awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship and inspire participants to undertake their own self-directed environmental projects during ADK Water Week.
