Herkimer County’s history is deep and wide. Herkimer County extends from south of the Mohawk River to the Adirondack Park in the north. It is located between Oneida and Montgomery Counties.

Open year round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Closed most holidays. We will follow the COVID protocols of requiring visitors who are not vaccinated to wear masks and sanitize their hands when they arrive. We have hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap available at the entrances. We will also take your temperature because you would be staying a longer period – those using the gift shop do not need to have their temperature taken.
We are asking visitors who wish to use our Research Library and/or tour our Museum to schedule an appointment by calling us at 315-866-6413 or email us at herkimerhistory@yahoo.com.
Our Research Library is available on Saturday 10a.m. to 4p.m. by appointment only. If possible, please schedule by noon Friday for next day appointment.

The Little Falls Historical Society website features resources for historians, exhibits, writing series, audio tours and much more.
Originally an 1833 bank, the building where The Little Falls Historical Society Museum is located in Herkimer County, New York, was converted and restored to house thousands of artifacts, family records, and relics of the past. This museum exists to discover, collect, display and conserve data, documents and artifacts that are a part of the history of Little Falls and to maintain an institution on educational usefulness.

Kuyahoora Valley Historical Society, formed in the early 1980s, is the regional historical society housed at the Newport Historical Center. It serves the Towns of Newport, Fairfield, Russia, and Norway, and the villages of Poland, Cold Brook, Newport, and Middleville. They have bi-monthly meetings which meet in the different communities, depending on program content and the season of the year. The Society’s materials and artifacts are housed at the Newport Historical Center, which the Town and Village of Newport maintain for their public records and the office of their historian.
