Winners of The Farmers’ Museum’s 74th Annual Junior Livestock Show Announced
Cooperstown, New York — Top honors at the 74th Annual Junior Livestock Show in Cooperstown went to young handlers from, Herkimer, Otsego and Schoharie counties during the show’s final event on Tuesday, July 12. The show, sponsored by The Farmers’ Museum and conducted in cooperation with Cornell Cooperative Extension, county 4-H educators, and clubs throughout central New York, brings together youth handlers from a nine-county area for three days of competition.
The top winners at the Junior Livestock Show bested over 175 exhibitors and their 460 animals.
Earning The Farmers’ Museum Cup for Best of Show Dairy was Justin Wolfe of Otsego County who showed his Holstein, Ovaltop Jordy RoJo-Red. The F. Ambrose Clark Livestock Cup for Best of Show in the beef, swine, Meat Goat and sheep categories was awarded to Laken Dyn of Herkimer County showing her Market Steer.
The Farmers’ Museum Dairy Goat Cup for Best of Show Dairy Goat went to Alexandria Lincoln of Schoharie County showing her Nigerian Dwarf, Dragonfly Tho Thalia Grace.
Dairy cattle Grand Champions were awarded in the Ayrshire division Julia Vunk of Otsego County who showed Gray Goose Kingsire Jill ; in the Brown Swiss division to Luke Enyart of Schoharie County who showed Hylight Rasta Posh; in the Guernsey division to Will Rumovicz of Chenango County who showed Clover-Patch Drone Lexie; in the Holstein division to Justin Wolfe of Otsego County, who showed Ovaltop Jordy RoJo-ET; in the Jersey division to Sean Shults of Schoharie County who showed Terry View Spunky Temptress; and in the Milking Shorthorn division to Logan VanEvera, Schoharie County who showed Mollys Lakota EXP. Other Breeds division went Lilly Simmons, Herkimer County who showed BAR-SFARMDAIR-Redjolly.
In each of the livestock divisions, Supreme Animal awards went to Laken Dyn of Herkimer County in the Swine category; to Laken Dyn of Herkimer County in the Beef category; Maxwell Pullis from Otsego County in the Sheep category and Kennedy Louis in the Meat Goat category.
In the Best Bred and Owned division, the award in the Ayrshire category went to Mason Yacobucci of Schoharie County with June-Ayes Strawberry Jam; in the Brown Swiss category to Brooke Foote of Fulton/Montgomery County with Glamour-Ridge V Wildthing ETV; in the Guernsey category to Will Rumovicz of Chenango County with Clover-Patch Drone Lexie; in the Jersey category to Levi Blood of Schoharie County with Wrangling-Hollow Match Sambuca; in the Holstein division to Justin Wolfe of Otsego County with Ovaltop UNST Roseana -Red; and in the Milking Shorthorn division to Julia Vunk of Otsego County with Gray Goose Justice Beyonce EXP; and in the Other Breeds division Lily Simmons of Herkimer County with BAR-SFARMDAIR -Redjolly.
The Dairy Goat category went to Paige Warren of Chenango County with Ol Kidd Cole Apollo; the Sheep category went to Korbyn McDonald of Delaware County with Lilly; the Swine Category went to Devon Fairchild of Chenango County with 8-10; and the Beef category went to Connor Frost of Oneida County with his Cow/Calf Pair.
Showmanship Championships were earned by the following: in the Dairy division, Grand Champion Showman was William Rumovicz of Chenango County and the Reserve Grand Champion Showman, Morgan Hodge of Chenango County. In the Dairy Goat division: Grand Champion Showman Paige Warren of Chenango County and Reserve Grand Champion Showman, Devon Fairchild of Chenango County. In the Sheep division: Grand Champion Showman went to Angle Mravlja of Otsego County and Reserve Grand Champion Showman to Madison Miller of Delaware County.
