Local History: Alger Island

Join the Town Historian, Kristy Rubyor, as she discusses the largest island in the Fulton Chain of Lakes: Alger Island.

On Thursday, August 31 at 5 pm, the Old Forge Library will host the Town of Webb Historical Association’s weekly Local History and Stories series. This last program of the very popular series of summer presentations will feature newly appointed Town Historian, Kristy Rubyor, as she discusses the largest island in the Fulton Chain of Lakes: Alger Island.

Learn more about the family whose name will forever be linked with the property. In addition, you will learn how the island became a New York State Camping facility.

Kristy has lived in the Old Forge area her entire life. Her lineage can be traced over eight generations in the Adirondack Park and five generations within the Town of Webb. She is a graduate of the Town of Webb Schools, and has been an employee at the Town of Webb Historical Association for over 10 years.

The presentation is free and open to the public and all are welcome.
