Step Into a Story this Fall at Fenimore Farm’s “Scarecrow Village: Once Upon a Time”

Families are invited to explore a whimsical world of fairy tales, folklore, fantasy, and history during a self-guided autumn adventure. 

COOPERSTOWN, NY: This fall, stories come to life at Fenimore Farm & Country Village with the opening of Scarecrow Village: Once Upon a Time, a family-friendly autumn experience featuring imaginative scarecrow creations inspired by beloved stories, folklore, fantasy, and history.

Scarecrow Village offers families a fun and memorable way to celebrate the fall season. Children and adults alike can explore at their own pace, enjoy the crisp fall air, and discover delightful surprises around every corner. With plenty of opportunities for family photos, the experience combines creativity, storytelling, and the simple pleasures of a fall day in the countryside. Each visitor will receive a map to track their journey, invited to find the 30 hand crafted crows hidden around the village, each visitor is invited to vote for their favorite display at the ‘Crow’s Nest’. Stop by Todd’s General Store or the Farm Gift Shop to receive a commemorative pin, marking the end of your Scarecrow Village journey. 

Fenimore Farm will feature 34 scarecrow exhibits, created by artists, families and community groups. Individuals and groups involved include: Alison Dodge, Ameilia Monahan, Bailee Clem & Annemarie Morton, Bethany Solomon, Carol Lernihan, Christian Pfeifer, Colin Havener, Colin Weeks, Cooperstown Graduate Program, Cooperstown Winter Carnival, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Cub Scout Pack #2254, Doreen Charon, Elizabeth Guiney, Fenimore Visitor Services & Membership, Girl Scout Troop # 30079, Girl Scout Troop #20062, Girl Scout Troop #3929, Heidi Opdyke, Heidi Stanton, Jennifer Torrance, Lake and Valley Garden Club, Makiya West, Mary Louise Giery, Matthew Monahan, Melody Gibson, Parking Lot Homeschoolers, Quigley Academy of Irish Dance, Sam Shepard, Skyler Stanton-Miritello, and Spencer Cox.

Scarecrow Village: Once Upon a Time opens to the public on Saturday, September 26^th through Sunday, November 1^st.

Fenimore Farm fall hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am – 4 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or online at fenimorefarm.org. Scarecrow Village is included with the price of admission, and members are free.
