Low Bridge: The Erie Canal in Saratoga County Presentation offered at Schoharie Crossing

Fort Hunter, NY – Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site will host a presentation titled, “Low Bridge: The Erie Canal in Saratoga County,” on Tuesday, March 25th at 6:30pm inside the Enders House, adjacent to their Visitor Center on Schoharie Street.

Join us as we welcome Clifton Park Town Historian John Scherer to provide this intriguing and enlightening program.

Journey along the Erie Canal from Cohoes to Schenectady and witness historical and contemporary views of the canal and sites as well as canal life and “characters” along the way. Explore the Erie Canal remains of Clute’s Dry Dock, Lock 19 and the Crescent and Rexford Aqueducts.

John Scherer is the Clifton Park Town Historian and also Senior Historian Emeritus at the New York State Museum, where he served as curator of decorative arts from 1967 to 2009. He holds a Master’s degree in Museum Studies and American Folk Life from the Cooperstown Graduate Program. Among many of his accomplishments is the publication of the book, “Bits of Clifton Park History,” as well as numerous articles for antique and history publications in New York.
