Indigenous Peoples’ Day gathering to feature Fidel Moreno at Hartwick’s Pine Lake
ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick College will welcome filmmaker and cultural educator Fidel Moreno to Pine Lake for an Indigenous Peoples’ Day gathering from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12.“Mending the Sacred Hoop: We Are All Related” will include a screening of Moreno’s documentary “Wiping the Tears of 7 Generations” and a shared Three Sisters stew dinner at Pine Lake’s vaudevillian, followed by a fireside talking circle around the sacred grandfather Fire, or Tetewari, outside by the lake.

In 1992, he directed the award-winning documentary “Wiping the Tears of Seven Generations,” which documents the 1890 Wounded Knee Massacre through the stories of descendants of survivors.
The gathering will give participants an opportunity to learn, share a meal and take part in conversation around the sacred fire. The event is free, and the public is invited to attend. Space is limited to 24 participants, so register today. Pine Lake is located at 1894 Charlotte Creek Road, Oneonta, New York 13820.
