Herkimer Home State Historic Site with Garden

Herkimer Home 4th of July Celebration

Herkimer Home is happy to invite you to a special event marking the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

We will open our doors at 10am on July 4th and 5th for a weekend full of 18th century activities and programs as we welcome you to experience what life was like when Independence was first declared!

Throughout each day Herkimer Home staff and volunteers will be hard at work as new fortifications are constructed surrounding the mansion and additional public offerings will be available throughout the site. Try your hand at 18th century toys and games, sign your loyalty to our Continental Congress, take in the smells of 18th century cooking, or even take a listen to arguments for liberty or loyalty. Join us as we mark this special occasion and don’t miss out on your opportunity to hear history out loud as the Declaration of Independence is presented and musket fire fills the air!

If you are looking for a beautiful and historic way to spend the holiday, make sure to visit with us. In addition to all our historical activities and programs don’t forget to walk our beautiful grounds, fish the Mohawk River, bike the Empire State Trail, and make use of our Picnic area and grills for your 4th of July BBQing needs! Everyone is welcome throughout the weekend, so don’t miss out on your chance to witness another milestone in American history together as we honor 250 years of Independence.

Be sure to check out our Facebook Page for more details and follow us to stay up to date with our other events. See you soon!
