Herkimer County Historical Society Announces Summer Events

The Herkimer County Historical Society invites the community to take part in a series of engaging upcoming programs designed to connect residents with local history, family heritage, and unique regional stories.

“Witnessing the Weird in the Mohawk Valley, Book 2” – Author Talk & Book Signing

Explore the unexplained with this fascinating presentation featuring firsthand accounts from residents of the Mohawk Valley who have experienced the extraordinary. The event includes a book talk followed by a Q&A session and book signing.

Location: Suiter House Museum
Schedule: Book Talk 2:00–3:00 PM; Q&A and Signing 3:00–4:00 PM

Historic Corners Tour

Step back in time on this guided tour featuring some of Herkimer’s most significant landmarks, including the Reformed Dutch Church, the 1834 Herkimer Jail, and the Suiter House. Hear compelling stories of a Tiffany wall, the German Palatinates, notorious local crimes, and a prominent local doctor. Dates and times will be announced soon.

Genealogy Workshop – Keep Your Roots Alive—Start Here

Have you always wanted to start a family tree but weren’t sure how—or found yourself stuck along the way? Join the Society’s experienced researchers for a hands-on evening of guidance and discovery. Participants are encouraged to bring their login information for genealogy websites along with any questions they may have.

Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
Cost: $5 for non-members; FREE for members

Drive-Thru Brooks Chicken BBQ July 1

Back by popular demand, the Society’s Brooks Chicken BBQ is sure to sell out quickly. Each dinner includes a half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, and a roll with butter.

Date: July 1
Time: Begins at 3:30 PM and continues until sold out
Cost: $15 per dinner
