Governor Hochul Directs Flags to be flown at Half-staff to Honor Fallen Technical Sergeant Christopher P. Rock

Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced flags on State buildings will be flown at half-staff on December 12, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of fallen Technical Sergeant Christopher P. Rock.

Rock was a valiant servant to his family, community and the State of New York,” Governor Hochul said. “Sergeant Rock leaves behind a legacy of service and mentorship that will never be forgotten, and my heart goes out to all of those whose lives he touched.”

On December 3, 2023, Sergeant Rock passed away from an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. He had retired from the New York State Police after 26 years of dedicated service on September 27, 2013. Sergeant Rock is from Kerhonkson, NY, and is survived by his wife.
