Celebrate 250 Years of American History
Three Local Chapters of The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to Host a “Celebrate 250 Years of American History” Event.
The Amsterdam, Johnstown, and Fort Plain Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host a “Celebrate 250 Years of American History” event on Saturday, October 5, from noon to 3:00 p.m.
The event seeks to engage the public as well as students in celebrating our nation’s upcoming 250th birthday and our Patriots who fought for and achieved American independence.
Each of the three Chapters will be at a different location within their county which will include presentations and displays. Please plan to visit all three locations:
- The Amsterdam Chapter will be at Montgomery County Department of History & Archives located in the Old Courthouse in Fonda,
- The Fort Plain Chapter will be at their Chapter House located at 105 Mohawk St. in Fort Plain,
- The Johnstown Chapter will be at Fulton County Museum located at 237 Kingsboro Ave. in Gloversville.
To make the event interactive, the Chapters ask that participants visit historical locations or markers in Fulton and Montgomery Counties prior to the event to learn local history. Participants who show photos of three historical locations or signs during the October 5th event that they have visited will receive a prize at each event location. Participants who visit all three event locations will be entered into a drawing for one of three $50 gift cards.
