Marjorie Ann Dancing Wind Heacock of the Tribes Hill Heritage Center will be the guest speaker on Native American culture and history in the Mohawk Valley.

The Mayfield Historical Society will host a presentation on Native American History and Culture in the Mohawk Valley on Monday, April 17th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church, 22 N. 31st Annual Christmas Open House at The Rice Homestead

The Mayfield Historical Society will present its 31st Annual Christmas Open House at The Rice Homestead on Saturday, December 3rd from 12 - 4 pm with music by Fleur de Lys from 1-3 pm.

Attendees will step back in time to view the holiday decorated rooms with fireplaces ablaze and enjoy homemade cookies, hot mulled cider from the wood burning stove in the kitchen, and listen to music by Fleur de Lys from 1-3 pm.

Spinning and wool rug braiding demonstrations will be in The Loom Room and the very popular Homemade Pie Sale will be in the dining room.  Come early for best selection.

The Mayfield Historical Society's Annual Fall Harvest Cruise-In will be held Saturday, October 8th, from noon - 4 at The Rice Homestead, 328 Riceville Rd., Mayfield.

All registered Cruise-In vehicles will receive a free hot dog and drink and the first 25 will receive a dash plaque.

Music, hot dogs with locally iconic Lee's Snack Bar Secret Meat Sauce, apple cider donuts, make your own sundaes, farm fresh produce and pumpkins, spinning and rug braiding demos, free tours of the Homestead, locally sourced honey, and homemade soaps will be available.

The Mayfield Historical Society has announced the formation of a gardening/socializing group that will meet twice a month at The Rice Homestead during the summer.  

The group is open to all and no gardening experience is necessary.  The aim of the group is to enjoy the camaraderie of working together and having time to socialize.  

The group will meet at 9 a.m. on the first and third Mondays of the month for one hour of tending to the Homestead's gardens and then enjoying refreshments at the picnic tables under the maple trees on the Homestead property.  

The first get-together is Monday, August 1st, at 9 a.m.  The gardening will mostly consist of light weeding for just 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour.   All are welcome.  The Rice Homestead is located at 328 Riceville Road, Mayfield, NY.  For more information, call Carol Johnston at 518-332-0538.

The Mayfield Historical Society will host "Plein Air Painting with Local Artist Linda Finch" on Sundays, September 3rd and 10th, from 10 am to 1 pm at The Rice Homestead, 328 Riceville Road, Mayfield, NY.  

All artists, beginner to experienced, are welcome to come and enjoy The Rice Homestead's house and grounds to paint in whatever medium they choose.  This is not a painting class, but an open invitation to any and all artists to paint and sketch together.  Please bring your own supplies.
