In 1796 Amelia Simmons wrote what is widely regarded as the first American cookbook, American Cookery, but very little is known about her.

Pamela Cooley has sought to solve the mystery surrounding Simmons through historical and genealogical research. This talk reveals the results of this research, analyzes some often-cited theories, and shares Cooley’s theory. This is a virtual-only available via Zoom.
